At the Vitality Institute, we translate evidence into action and action into impact – our vision is to see health embraced as a strategic value by society as a whole; we are working across traditional boundaries for improved population health.
Cutting the deficit by gutting our investments in innovation and education is like lightening an overloaded airplane by removing its engine. It may make you feel like you're flying high at first, but it won't take long before you feel the impact.
If you think you're too small to have an impact, try going to bed with a mosquito.
Be the change you want to see in the world.
Everyone thinks of changing the world, but no one thinks of changing himself.
Workplace health promotion programs can promote workforce health and prevent NCDs, but many health-related choices occur in the community. However, most employers fail to address the environmental and social drivers of workforce health at the community level. This results in a major barrier to the effectiveness of workplace health initiatives.
Health Metrics Reporting
By 2020, workforce health metrics will be an integral indicator of overall organizational performance within the broader corporate accountability framework. They will be core to existing corporate social responsibility, sustainability, and integrated reporting, and critical for consideration by all shareholders and potential investors.
We are identifying which evidence-based, high-level metrics should be reported on by companies.
Personalized Health Technology
Personalized health technology – wearable tracking devices, embeddable sensors, and diagnostic testing – enables self-quantification and modification of health behaviors. It has potential to minimize the prevalence of chronic diseases by targeting leading risk factors. These include physical inactivity, unhealthy diet, and medication non-adherence.
